More Ways to Help
There are lots of organizations working on the front lines and providing shelter here, in Los Angeles. Many orgs have shifted their focus to immediate relief needs. Here are some organizations and efforts that could use more support:
Anti-Recidivism Coalition
800+ firefighters on the frontlines are incarcerated people making $5-$10 per day and an additional $1 per hour. They do not receive additional benefits for their service and aren’t even able to become firefighters upon release.
The Anti-Recidivism Coalition is sending donations straight to the incarcerated firefighters working on the front lines now to better compensate them for this life-threatening work.
World Central Kitchen
The incredible World Central Kitchen has been out feeding anyone who needs meals, from displaced people to first responders, with delicious, hot meals. We can confirm our own sightings in the Altadena/Pasadena area.
GoFundMe for Impacted Black Community of Altadena
Put together by a group of lawyers and organizations, this GoFundMe was put together to help aid black families who lost their homes in Altadena.
Since they are lawyers, they’ve made sure not to interfere with FEMA coverage and are working directly with recipients on the best way to receive donations in the form of gifts to help these families retain their land and cover needs not covered by FEMA.
